1. Can I pay my bill with a debit or credit card?

2. Can payment of my bill be withdrawn automatically from my checking account?

Yes this option is available by filling out and sending in an automatic payment enrollment form

3. What would cause a higher than normal water bill?

The most common cause of a high water bill is a toilet leak. These are not always easily detectable. Check the water level in the tank to make sure it is not dripping into the filler pipe. Another simple test is to apply 4-5 drops of food coloring into the tank, wait 15-20 minutes. If it turns the water in the bowl to that color, then there is a leak.

Other causes of high usage could be leaks such as dripping faucets, shower heads or broken pipes (internal or irrigation). Also, during the warmer months people tend to use more water for watering lawns, washing cars, filling pools, etc..

4. Why if I use under 1000 cubic feet is my bill the same amount?

There is a minimum water usage fee for 0-1,000 cubic feet per billing cycle and billed out at the current rate.

5. What is the conversion of cubic feet to gallons?

1 cubic foot of water is the equivalent of 7.480 gallons. The department bills in thousand cubic feet; therefore there are 7,480 gallons to 1000 cubic feet.
